Aikido is a non competitive Martial Art that emphasizes blending with an opponents attack. The essence of Aikdo techniques are circular in nature. The movements are designed to coordinate the attacking and defending bodies in order to redirect the natural flow of energy of the attack and neutralize it. In this way, Aikido harmonizes all motion in a positive way instead of trying to conflict with it. Aikido of South West Florida is a member dojo of the United States Aikido Federation (USAF), under the leadership of Yoshimitsu Yamada Sensei 8th Dan.
Aikido of South West Florida is the only traditional Aikido school in the Southwest Florida area dedicated exclusively to Aikido. As such, we are also the only dojo sanctioned to award rank via the USAF which is the premiere representative organization of Hombu Dojo, Tokyo, Japan.
